'Film
Purpose'
The Judas Project
was designed and created to be a 'retelling' of the same series of events
surrounding the last three years of the life of Jesus. The challenge
was to place the same story in present day so that ordinary people could
better understand what took place 2,000 years ago and why.
'The
Judas Project'
was intended to do the following:
- Bring out the humanity of Jesus.
Present Him as touchable, reachable, always with you and never forsaking
you.
- Show the heart of Jesus... His
love and compassion.
- Show that Jesus wasn't 20 feet
tall, but God as a man in the flesh, who looked and dressed like a real
and ordinary person. Someone you could walk with and talk with... a man
who at times got upset ... once sweat great drops of blood. Still He was
a man who knew how to laugh, throw His arms around you and embrace you
... and yes, He even knew how to cry.
- Bring out the fact that the disciples
were real people like you and me, with real needs and genuine everyday
problems. They weren't perfect or Saints ... just human, like us, with
human frailties that only Jesus could help them overcome.
- By setting the story in present
day, it's easier to understand why the vast multitudes could not bring
themselves to follow, bow down to and accept someone as their Lord and
Savior who looked like an ordinary man, maybe just "one of the guys"
... even tho it was God in the flesh. Would it be any different today?
Would everyone who met Him on the streets, in the countryside, in the marketplace,
in houses of worship ... recognize Him?
- Show that there's a little bit
of Judas in all of us. Also, to ask the questions ... Did Judas betray
Jesus solely for money? Could he also have betrayed Jesus because He wasn't
what Judas wanted Him to be? Wasn't Judas a Zealot and what did the Zealots
want to do with the Roman Empire? Who is the modern day Rome?
- Dispel the belief that the Jews,
as a nation, or the Romans put Jesus on the cross. Rather; it was a vile
spirit of Religiosity that ran rampant among the Sanhedrin, Pharisees and
Sadducees. Is that spirit still alive today? Would that same spirit put
Him on the cross today?
- Make it clear that nothing on this
earth took Jesus's life ... rather, He gave His own life as a sacrifice
for the sins of "all" mankind and only by accepting Jesus as
our Lord and Savior would our sins be forgiven and would we find salvation.
New... We also
need to find people like you to help provide videos, studyguides and soundtracks
to over 9700 prisons that have requested it, and for youth groups such
as: Teen Challange, Young Life, Youth For Christ, etc.
